***Hybrid-Cloud Security Systems Engineer (Hybrid)***
Our client, an economic engine for the Portland Region, is looking for a
**Hybrid-Cloud Security Systems Engineer**
for their Portland, OR location. In this role, you will provide technical aspects of design, implementation, and solution delivery for our client’s hybrid IT infrastructure with a strong emphasis on security and compliance. This role leverages multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and on-premises systems to ensure high availability, scalability, and security across all environments. The ideal candidate will be a technical subject matter expert in modern infrastructure technologies, architectural patterns, and industry best practices to effectively design, integrate, deploy, and support IT solutions that meet business objectives.

**Key responsibilities for Hybrid-Cloud Security Systems Engineer:**
- Serve as the primary engineering resource for the Information Security team, supporting security-focused strategic planning, systems integration, and security assessment remediation activities.
- Partner with Information Security team and key stakeholders to understand organizational needs and recommend technologies—including cloud services, container platforms, edge computing, networking architectures—that mature security practices, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while automating manual processes.
- Contribute to security policy development and maintain security hardening standards across all infrastructure systems. Design and document application-layer policy-based security technologies and platforms.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the research, selection, acquisition, deployment, security, and lifecycle management of medium- and high-risk systems across multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), on-premises environments, and PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS solutions.
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies such as AI, Kubernetes orchestration, service mesh architectures, GitOps workflows, and advanced cloud constructs to drive innovation and organizational transformation.
- Maintain current knowledge of security standards and industry best practices including zero-trust networking, application segmentation, and cloud-native security.
- Respond as primary security engineer to information security events and incidents, in alignment and collaboration with the Information Security team. Participate in incident response efforts, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures to reduce future occurrences.
- Serve as escalation point for critical infrastructure incidents, outages, and complex technical issues requiring senior-level IT troubleshooting and resolution across hybrid infrastructure, multi-cloud platforms, containerized environments, and on-premises systems.
- Respond to and support internal and external security and operational audits by providing technical documentation, system evidence, compliance reporting, and performing systems remediation activities.
- Participate in disaster recovery exercises and maintain business continuity plans for critical infrastructure systems.
- Perform security hardening of servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud resources.
- Continually improve systems security posture and identify opportunities to mature operational processes and administrative conventions and practices to achieve security outcomes
- Provide subject matter expertise for secure administration, configuration management, monitoring, and operational resilience of production hybrid infrastructure systems across multi-cloud (AWS, Azure) and on-premises environments.
- Develop and leverage internal standards, infrastructure engineering skills, integration frameworks, APIs, Azure and AWS configuration, administration capabilities, and automation platforms to deploy and optimize system processes and deliver securely integrated system solutions.
- Develop and maintain DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines with automated security scanning, compliance validation, and deployment automation.
- Integrate and deploy complex solutions that incorporate maturing security controls into systems through automated scanning, policy enforcement, compliance-as-code, and industry standard tools.
**Requirements for Hybrid-Cloud Security Systems Engineer:**
- 8+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, with a security focus.
*Experience with the following:*
- Performing multicloud platform architecture delivery across AWS and Azure environments, and hybrid onprem workloads.
- Configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting security tools with automated security scans, compliance validation, and continuous deployment strategies.
- Configuring Windows and Linux servers in LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure, onpremises).
- Engineering enterprise systems and services auditing, and monitoring of virtualization platforms, and multitier application architectures.
- Implementing tools for logging, monitoring, scanning, runtime protection, secrets management, and policy enforcement of applications and servers.
- Refining and leveraging change control, source control, and configuration management technologies.
- Documenting standards, processes, and runbooks for enterprise systems.
- Leveraging knowledge and best practices to evaluate, select, and implement new technology, hardware, and software.
- Conducting security risk assessments for infrastructure changes
- Implementing security automation and security as code practices
- Performing threat modeling for infrastructure designs
- Executing security patch management across hybrid environments
- Configuring and maintaining security policies and controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF)
- Implementing least privilege and role-based access controls (RBAC)
- Implementing and maintaining identity and access controls (Microsoft EntraID, CAPs, MFA, SSO)
- Performing user and enterprise credential management (Passkeys, enterprise password managers)
- Implementing and maintain encryption services (PKI)
- Providing exceptional customer service and communication (oral, written, technical presentations)
