Job Description

**Introduction** A career in IBM Software means you’ll be leading the teams that transform our customers’ challenges into world-class solutions. You will be leading a design team dedicated to **HashiCorp’s industry-leading suite of security products** . As the standard for cloud infrastructure automation, HashiCorp products (like Vault and Boundary) are critical to the world’s largest organizations. We are seeking a leader who understands the delicate balance between robust security and seamless developer experience. Our door is open for a visionary leader who wants to build and guide a team to deliver winning results in the high-stakes world of Zero Trust security and identity management. **Your Role And Responsibilities** Join the worldwide design organization as a **Senior Manager, Product Design** for the HashiCorp Security portfolio. In this role, you will guide a team of designers tackling some of the most complex challenges in software: making advanced security workflows (such as secrets management, privileged access, and identity-based security) accessible and intuitive for developers and security practitioners. Your primary mission is to build a high-performing team and guide them to translate complex security paradigms into winning product experiences. **Key Responsibilities** - Build and Guide High-Performing Teams: Recruit, hire, and mentor top-tier design talent with a passion for developer tools and security. Foster a culture of psychological safety where designers feel empowered to challenge complexity. - Simplify Security Complexity: Guide your team in transforming intricate technical requirements (e.g., encryption, rotation, access control) into clear, usable, and safe user experiences. Champion the "secure by design" philosophy. - Drive Winning Results: Align design strategy with product roadmaps for industry standards like Vault and Boundary. Ensure your team delivers work that drives adoption and reduces friction for DevOps and Platform Engineering teams. - Strategic Collaboration: Partner deeply with Engineering, Product Management, and Security experts. Bridge the gap between technical feasibility and user-centric design to define the future of identity-based security. - Operational Excellence: Establish design patterns and workflows that accommodate the rigor required for security products while maintaining agile delivery speeds. - Community & Ecosystem: Understand the open-source roots of HashiCorp. Guide your team to design with the developer community in mind, balancing open-source flexibility with enterprise-grade features. **Preferred Education** Master's Degree **Required Technical And Professional Expertise** - Design Leadership: 5+ years of experience managing design teams, specifically within B2B, Enterprise Software, or Developer Tools. - Complex Domain Expertise: Proven track record of leading teams to simplify highly technical domains (e.g., Security, Cloud Infrastructure, FinTech, or DevOps). - Team Building: Demonstrated ability to build diverse teams and mentor designers through career growth, specifically helping them navigate technical ambiguity. - Product Strategy: Experience collaborating with product leadership to define vision and strategy for technical products, moving beyond just execution to influence the roadmap. - Portfolio of Impact: A portfolio showcasing leadership in delivering complex software solutions that achieved measurable business success. **Preferred Technical And Professional Experience** - Security & Identity Knowledge: Familiarity with concepts such as Zero Trust, Secrets Management (Vault), IAM, or network security. - DevOps/Cloud Fluency: Understanding of the modern infrastructure landscape (Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP, CI/CD pipelines) and the personas that operate them. - Systems Thinking: Experience leading the creation or scaling of design systems for enterprise-grade applications.
