That’s why we offer The GEICO Pledge: Great Company, Great Culture, Great Rewards and Great Careers.** **Staff Software Engineer – Pricing Tech** **Position Summary** GEICO is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable, enterprise-level solutions for our Pricing organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in application architecture and software engineering with a focus on finance business applications. This position involves hands-on technical leadership, innovation, and collaboration to align technology solutions with business goals. **Position Description** In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, product experts, and other technical leaders, to deliver end-to-end pricing solutions that will transform how GEICO develops and manages pricing strategies. You will play a key role in the architecture, development, and deployment of cutting-edge solutions while ensuring best practices in software design, security, and performance. This role combines application solutioning, technical expertise, and strong functional knowledge of finance business applications. **Position Responsibilities** As a Staff Software Engineer for Pricing, you will: - Lead the architecture and solution design of a vendor product or bespoke system to conduct complex calculations across multiple dimensions to support advanced Pricing processes and analytics. - Leverage your knowledge and experience across a broad range of technologies to ensure end-to-end solutions are sound, scalable and capable of meeting both current and future business requirements. - Collaborate with stakeholders to align technology solutions with business goals and requirements. - Ensure seamless integration of financial, business and reference data from various sources to support the complex dimensional reporting and analytic requirements of Pricing systems. - Lead and mentor other engineers, consistently share best practices, and improve processes within and across teams - Innovate and prototype new tools or frameworks to improve development efficiency and product quality. - Provide thought leadership in new technologies, design patterns, and best practices, staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies. - Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and implement monitoring, profiling, and optimization strategies as needed. **Qualifications** - 15+ years of professional experience in software development. - 10+ years of professional experience working with large enterprise or business applications, preferably finance related. - Experience with insurance-related systems a plus - Deep understanding of object-oriented design with expertise in either Java or C#. - Experience building high-performance web UIs, with proficiency in at least one modern JavaScript framework (React/Angular/Vue). - Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SqlServer) as well as cloud data platforms such as Snowflake. - Experience working with cloud-native architecture and technologies (AWS, Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes). - Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure management. - Good knowledge of security protocols and products: understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth. - Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. - Ability to effectively communicate with various audiences (leadership, highly technical, and non-technical business partners) Education - Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. **Annual Salary** $110,000.00 - $260,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
